Every year in the month of May it is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. A few counties in Maryland will have different events and festivities celebrating Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
There will be festivals in Prince George’s, Frederick and Howard Counties, celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Each event will offer a wide variety of vendors, live music, and dance performances as well as art displays and artisan shops.
Prince George’s County’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration
Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with an afternoon filled with live performances, workshops, food and an “artisan shop” with unique finds on Saturday, May 4 at Harmony Hall Arts Center in Fort Washington. This is a free event.
Asia On the Creek
Located in downtown Frederick County, expect a variety of traditional performances, plus a vendor market, cultural art displays and, of course, food on Saturday, May 4.
Howard County’s AAPI Festival

Located at the Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods in Columbia, Howard County will be hosting their third annual AAPI Festival. There they will celebrate the contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community with a variety of food trucks and up to 100 vendors and exhibitors. The event will take place on Saturday, May 11.
Each hosting county will have a captivating festival, showcasing the diverse traditions and customs of different Asian cultures.
