After a long two-and-a-half years hiatus — “Warrior” is back though at a different home though with the same intense and expected badassery fans of the series love. While originally airing on Cinemax for its first two seasons, “Warrior” was given a second life on Max for its third installment. The new season returns today June 29 with three new episodes!
The series’ first episodes open with Ahn Sahm (Andrew Koji) and Young Jun (Jason Tobin) struggling to come up with ways to make a living for their tong as new anti-Asian ordinances have passed — the effects sprawling around Chinatown. Meanwhile, Ahn Sahm’s older sister Mai Liang (Dianne Doan) is creating new plans in order to expand her power across the community.
Of course, I can’t spoil all of the current episodes, but rest assured that there will be plenty of action and intrigue that “Warrior” is known for. And for big fans of the series, there is now a companion podcast that features Lisa Ling and Hoon Lee who is both a writer on “Warrior” and portrays Wang Chao. Each episode will have the two hosts interviewing the different actors and writers of the show, along with discussing the making of the series.
But don’t just take my word for it. Make sure to watch the first three episodes are now available on Max and keep up with the rest of the season!
