VinFast is reportedly slashing the lease price of its VF 8 City Edition model for buyers in California, with deliveries starting on Wednesday.
The Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker shipped 999 VF 8s to California in December 2022 to herald its global expansion. The EVs were originally set for a monthly lease of $599 for 24 months.
As of Monday, however, VinFast’s website showed that the price was cut down to $399 for the same schedule. Additionally, those who had already paid a refundable deposit were told to pay $274 per month, marking a discount of over 50%, according to Reuters.
The automotive company’s delivery event will be held on March 1 at one of their stores in California.
Those unable to attend can pick up their cars or have them delivered beginning on March 2, VinFast said in a news release.
The VF 8 City Edition comes in Eco and Plus trim models, which have an EPA-rated range of 207 and 191 miles, respectively.
It also features an Advanced Driver Assistance System and Smart Services “to become a mobile platform that connects all aspects of life.”
VinFast, which filed for a U.S. IPO in December 2022, is set to build an assembly factory in North Carolina. After the U.S., the company is expected to expand deliveries to Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
