Cartoon Network’s first-ever localized “Tom and Jerry” series that is set in Singapore has finally received a release date months after Warner Bros. Discovery first announced the project.
What is it about: The upcoming “Tom and Jerry” series will see the beloved cat and mouse frenemies pull their adorably chaotic antics in Singapore as they “experience local delicacies durian and ice kacang, and encounter Merli – a character inspired by Singapore’s mythical Merlion – in iconic locations like the Botanic Gardens, Sentosa and Marina Bay,” Warner Bros Discovery’s head of kids’ content for South-east Asia, Christopher Ho, said in a statement.
Authentic to Singapore: Ho noted that it was important for them to “create stories and environments that feel authentically Singapore,” adding that at the same time, “honor the distinct animation style and sense of humor that has made Tom and Jerry so well-loved for generations.”
