Texas officer saved lives during mall shooting, official says

Hello and thank you. My name is Oscar. I’m Lieutenant with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Uh As we begin today, I’m gonna go ahead and introduce our speakers. First will be Chief Brian Harvey with the Allen Police Department. Then we will have special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Chad Yarbrough and then summarizing things. At the end, we will be our regional director Hank S with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Before we begin our Spanish translation. Ok. When this community was attacked on May six, the Amman Police Department responded along with many others from the North Texas law enforcement community that included both police and fire. Our community also responded with an overwhelming show of support for the victims, the victims families and public safety. And we are grateful and thank you. One particular officer distinguished himself in an exemplary manner, demonstrating tremendous bravery when he immediately addressed an attacker that was injuring and murdering innocent victims. We know our community would like to thank and honor him. However, we’re not prepared to release that officer’s name due to the ongoing investigation and the officer has also expressed his appreciation for his privacy. As he continues to process this tragic event, there were many other heroic life saving efforts conducted by our officers and the fire department.
