Treasury appeals
Student Union Treasury heard appeals from five student groups, which were collectively requesting $51,766.23. SU Treasury decided to fund for a total of $51,474.34, bringing the semester total to $183,892.55, on Oct. 24.
LNYF, the annual Lunar New Year Festival, requested $5,465.64 for show costumes, standing drums, Tinikling attire, fashion-show outfits, Taekwondo uniforms, a Lion costume, and more. SU Treasury did not allocate money for the eight men’s pants — costing a total of $111.92 — for the Tinikling dance since this item was previously funded under the condition that they would be reused, and they were damaged. SU Treasury allocated money for the other demands, totaling $5,353.75 in funding for the festival.
The Asian American Association (AAA) is planning their first speaker event, requesting $20,000 for a well-known author’s speaker honorarium, totaling $22,410.24 with the flight, hotel, Chapel space, and Uber fees. AAA agreed to omit the Chapel space rental fee from their request, and SU Treasury granted $22,230.24 in funding.
Mock Trial appealed for their biggest Fall tournament. Travel costs were primarily flights ($3,000) and hotels ($1,050) but also included rental cars, gas, and demonstrative material fees amounting to $4,564. SU Treasury unanimously voted in favor of funding Mock Trial’s Dec. 2-3 trip in full.
Run Club requested $5,232.35 to participate in the St. Louis Hot Chocolate Run on Dec. 3 in Forest Park. The group was funded in full for this request.
The Women’s Soccer Team qualified for an upcoming tournament in California, calling for $560 dollars per person in flight tickets alone. Paired with each of the 28 active members’ hotel, rental car, and tournament entry fees, the team requested $14,094. SU Treasury agreed in complete accord to fund in full.
