South Korean actor Song Joong-ki has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Netflix movie “My Name is Loh Kiwan.”
The film, based on the Jo Hae-jin novel “I Met Loh Kiwan,” follows the love story between the titular North Korean defector, Loh Kiwan, as he searches for asylum in Belgium, and Marie, a melancholy South Korean professional shooter living in Belgium. Song will play Loh Kiwan, and Choi Sung-eun, who starred in the web series “The Sound of Magic” and Korean drama “Beyond Evil,” will play Marie.
In addition to Song and Choi, “My Name is Loh Kiwan” will feature an ensemble cast that includes Cho Han-cheul, who previously worked with Song on “Reborn Rich” and Choi on “The Sound of Magic.”
Supporting roles will be filled by actors such as Kim Sung-ryoung from “The Call,” Lee Il-hwa from the “Reply” series, Lee Sang-hee from “One Spring Night” and Seo Hyun-woo from “Flowers of Evil.”
“My Name is Loh Kiwan” has not yet been given a premiere date by Netflix.
