Nepalese-born Australian actor Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.”
The latest installment in the “Planet of the Apes” franchise is being produced by 20th Century Studios and is set in the future following the events of 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes.”
Apes have formed their own societies after Caesar, now revered like a messiah, led them to an oasis. Some ape groups are unaware of Caesar’s teachings, while others have twisted them to create empires. As for the humans, they have become feral creatures.
Different ape factions come into conflict as one ape seeks human technology to continue a reign of enslaving other groups. Another ape witnesses his clan become enslaved and goes on a journey in search of freedom. This ape meets a young woman, who helps him on his mission but has motives of her own.
Details about Lachman’s role are under wraps for now, but she joins the likes of William H. Macy, Freya Allan, Owen Teague and Kevin Durand on the project. It is currently being shot in Australia.
Lachman is best known for her roles in Apple TV Plus show “Severance,” Netflix’s “Altered Carbon,” “Jurassic World Dominion” and Disney’s “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
