Police in the Canadian capital of Ottawa are warning the public about a string of daytime break-ins targeting the homes of Asian residents.
About the suspects: The suspects are described as four Black males between 20 and 30 years old and “without any discernible accent.” They are believed to drive a gray Nissan Pathfinder with tinted windows and stolen plate number CWNL 816.
How they worked: The suspects approached homes without a car in their garage and knocked on their doors. If a resident answered, they would offer business — such as lawn care — but would leave when refused.
If nobody answered, the suspects would leave but return some time later to force their way in. The reported incidents occurred in Half Moon Bay, Kanata North and Manotick.
Investigation into the latest break-ins continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPS Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533.
