In celebration of Verizon’s newest store location in Los Angeles’ Koreatown, the service provider, will be hosting a grand opening ceremony alongside the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles (KAFLA) and baseball legend Chan Ho Park on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 AM.
Verizon is proud to be a part of the Koreatown neighborhood and is committed to serving the Korean community where they are. The new store will be fully staffed with retail specialists bilingual in English and Korean, reflecting the blend of cultures found in the neighborhood.
To commemorate the store’s opening, Verizon will present $10,000 in donations to KAFLA to aid in their mission of empowering the community in Los Angeles through advocacy and social services. Founded in 1962, the nonprofit organization aims to protect and advocate for the rights and interests of Korean Americans, create cross-culture bonds between Korea and the U.S. and bridge the gap with other diverse communities.
The ribbon cutting will feature former Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Chan Ho Park where fans will be able to personally meet the player when a qualifying line is actived. In his career, Park made history as the first South Korean player in the MLB and the first South Korean player to be named an MLB All-Star. Known as an inspiration to Koreans throughout the world, he has also been active in many philanthropic endeavors including his own Chan Ho Park Dream Foundation which supports Korean students and education.
