Reality dating television seems to be a fad that will never fade away. And in HanWay Films’ latest project, “The One” explores the outrageous and often scary realities behind these programs.
“The One” stars Melissa Barrera (“Scream VI”), Nicholas Hoult (“The Great”), Lana Condor (“Moonshot”) and Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones & the Six”). Barrera plays Taylor, a contestant on a dating game show making one last desperate attempt to find love. When the competition narrows down to Taylor and two other contestants, all three women will compete to win over the heart of Mason (Hoult), the show’s lucky bachelor. When the game begins to veer down a dangerous path and the pursuit of love turns into an obsession, the reality aspect slowly fades away.
Writer-director team Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley serve as the film’s creative duo taking charge of the project with Hoult also serving as a producer alongside Whitaker Lader via their production company Dead Duck Films.
With no release date yet announced, “The One ” has entered the pre-production phase and is slated to debut at the Cannes film market upon its release.
