Pyo Ye-rim, a South Korean YouTuber who was allegedly bullied for 12 years, has passed away at 27 years old.
Events before her death: Pyo went live on YouTube moments before her death on Tuesday.
She reportedly uploaded a since-deleted video to her YouTube channel on the same day, where she can be seen crying. Pyo noted that the video was her “suicide note” and that she wanted “to be at a place where [she] can just relax.” She also noted in the video that people should not stop looking into her case.
About the YouTuber: Pyo, who reportedly ran a one-person beauty salon in Yeonje-gu Busan, made headlines in March after revealing on TV and through her YouTube channel she was a victim of school bullying for 12 years. She noted that the incident began in grade school and lasted until she was in high school.
Helping people: Besides launching a petition to the Korean government in April seeking to abolish laws in favor of the bullies, such as the statute of limitations for school violence-related crimes, Pyo had also closely worked with other victims of school bullying.
She was reportedly hospitalized that same month following an apparent suicide attempt.
