KFC Japan has developed fried chicken that reportedly pairs perfectly with alcoholic drinks.
What’s it called: Announced on Wednesday, the latest addition to KFC Japan’s menu is called “Ninniku Crispy,” or in English, “Garlic Crispy.” This fried chicken is made to match beer and other alcoholic beverages, according to a press release.
Behind the flavor: The new fried chicken is seasoned with garlic and soy sauce on the base, dressed and fried in a crispy batter, and finished with a coat of garlic-flavored oil sauce for an added punch. The product development team says the result is a “confident” product with a balance of flavors, making it perfect for the year-end party season.
“This is a fun barrel,” one
wrote. “KFC is the best.”
KFC Japan offers Ninniku Crispy with either its Original Chicken or Kernel Crispy in festive, limited-edition “Kanpai” (“Cheers!”) barrels for 1,680 yen ($11.40). A Ninniku Crispy piece comes at 290 yen ($1.97), while a three-piece set costs 600 yen ($4.07).
