Constance Wu has confirmed her pregnancy with her second child with partner Ryan Kattner.
The news, which had been speculated earlier this month, was revealed through Wu’s Instagram story on Tuesday.
“Bun in the oven,” the Wu star wrote below a photo of herself pointing to her baby bump. “Filipinese baby #2 coming soon,” she also added, referring to her Taiwanese and Kattner’s Filipinos heritage.
Kattner — a 42-year-old composer, actor and frontman of experimental rock band Man Man — and Wu introduced their first child in August 2020 after a private pregnancy.
Known for her roles in ABC’s “Fresh off the Boat” and acclaimed blockbuster “Crazy Rich Asians,” Wu has mostly maintained her privacy after her 2019 Twitter controversy.
While portraying Jessica Huang on the ABC comedy series, Wu posted explicit tweets critiquing the show’s sixth-season renewal. Although her messages were interpreted by social media users as ungrateful, Wu shared the background surrounding the controversy in her 2022 memoir, “Making a Scene.”
In her memoir, Wu revealed she was controlled and sexually harassed by a senior “Fresh Off the Boat” producer. In light of the harsh backlash in 2019, which included death threats, the memoir also revealed a survived suicide attempt by the expectant mother.
