Police arrested a Brooklyn woman with a lengthy rap sheet in connection to a deadly act of arson at the NYCHA Queensbridge North Houses in Long Island City back in 2021, the NYPD announced Monday.
Tandika Wright, 36, was charged on March 24 with murder, manslaughter, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of arson. Wright has 37 prior arrests, police say.
Wright was previously arrested and charged on Jan. 20, 2022 for an anti-Asian hate crime in a Manhattan subway station. She was imprisoned for attempted manslaughter in the first degree for a separate incident from 2015 to 2019.
Police responded to a 911 call of a residential fire around 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2021 at the Queensbridge Houses on 40-11 12th St.
Lavina Nolley, 49, was found unresponsive with burns and trauma to her body inside an apartment, according to police.
EMS transported Nolley to Mount Sinai Hospital-Queens, where she was pronounced deceased. Her death was later ruled a homicide, police noted.
