Lionsgate has released a first look at Adele Lim’s upcoming comedy film, “Joy Ride.”
Written by “Crazy Rich Asians” co-screenwriter Lim, Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao, the film is produced by the team behind the hit movie “Neighbors” and features an all-star cast that includes “Emily in Paris” star Ashley Park, “Shortcomings” actor Sherry Cola, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu and comedian Sabrina Wu.
“Their no-holds-barred, epic experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are,” an official synopsis of the film states.
The film tells the story of four friends who go on an international adventure together.
Audrey, played by Park, turns to her wild and flippant childhood best friend Lolo, played by Cola, for help when her business trip in Asia takes an unexpected turn. Along for the ride are Audrey’s college friend turned Chinese soap star Kat, played by Hsu, and Lolo’s eccentric cousin Deadeye, played by Wu.
Rounding out the cast are “M3GAN” star Ronny Chieng, “Partner Track” star Desmond Chiam, “Insecure” star Alexander Hodge and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Chris Pang.
