Winning the lottery isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be — especially if it’s anything like the newly released trailer for “Jackpot!” The upcoming film, which stars Awkwafina (Kung Fu Panda 4) and John Cena (Ricky Stanicky), is slated for an August 15 release date and shows how someone’s dream can have unforeseen consequences.

Set in 2030 where a ‘Grand Lottery’ has been newly established in California, the multi-billion dollar jackpot comes with a catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their prize money. When aspiring actor Katie Kim (Awkwafina) moves to Los Angeles, she unexpectedly finds herself with the winning ticket. Amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena) comes to her rescue and she reluctantly joins forces with him — despite her hesitancy to trust the man. Katie is desperate to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters and Noel will do everything in his power to get her to sundown in exchange for a piece of her prize. As they make it through the day, Noel must face off with his slick rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who’s also driven to collect Katie’s commission at all costs. The new action comedy is directed by Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids”) and written by Rob Yescombe; the cast is rounded up by Sean William Scott, Marian Green and David Conk.

Will Awkwafina be the winner who takes it all and leaves the rest in the dust? Find out later this summer and watch the trailer for “Jackpot!!” below!
