RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The month of May is Asian-American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month and the 26th Annual Asian American Celebration is kicking off at the Greater Richmond Convention Center this Saturday.
The 26th Annual Asian American Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, located at 403 North 3rd Street in downtown Richmond.
This celebration is a free event celebrating Asian cultures in central Virginia.
According to the organizers, there will be more than 15 Asian communities represent at the celebration including Afghan, Bangladeshi, Bhutanese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Lebanese, Malaysian, Nepali, Myanmar (Burmese), Pakistani, Singaporean, Thai and Vietnamese.
The organizers said the celebration will feature dance, music and martial arts performances throughout the day.
Attendees can expect to enjoy traditional games in the kids’ village, hands-on activities and cultural booths. Unique merchandise and dishes will also be available for purchase.
