South Korean music collective Balming Tiger will spearhead Tiger Den at South by Southwest (SXSW), the first full-day music event in the festival’s history to exclusively feature Asian artists.
Tiger Den will feature 19 artists on two stages, headlined by Balming Tiger. For many of the artists, it will be their first performance in the U.S. Notable acts include The Black Label’s South Korean rock artist LØREN, who has featured in BLACKPINK videos, Taiwanese R&B artist 9m88 and Cambodian multi-instrumentalist Vanthan, among many others.
Balming Tiger, who released “Sexy Nukim” last year with BTS’ RM, are collaborating on Tiger Den with American entertainment company Jaded.
The pair’s individual events at SXSW last year sparked the idea for Tiger Den.
San Yawn, the director of Balming Tiger, expressed his excitement for the event.
“Balming Tiger and Jaded share a mutual goal to champion Asian youth culture throughout the world,” he said. “We are excited to introduce many rising talents to a new audience, and to bring our positive message and energy to Austin once again.”
Jaded founder Jing Wang added: “We believe in the positive impact that the next generation of Asian artists will have on global pop culture, and we are dedicated to creating opportunities for them to be seen and heard in markets where they historically have limited access.”
