Jasmine Yen, the daughter of Hong Kong actor and martial artist Donnie Yen, has debuted as a singer with her first single, “idk.”
Yen’s debut: Yen, 19, is signed to RCA Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. Her pop-R&B single — written and performed in both Chinese and English — explores autonomy and self-love.
The single is one of eight tracks on Yen’s debut album, which will be released on Sept. 1.
“I feel blessed to find my musical home in RCA Records Greater China,” Yen said in a press release. “This is an amazing opportunity for me to pursue my dreams as an artist and singer.”
Through music, the 19-year-old hopes to empower young girls to follow their hearts and put themselves first.
“Jasmine Yen is the perfect example of a modern day artist, an innate talent, with a unique story that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries,” said RCA Records Greater China’s Managing Director Kevin Foo.
