A South Korean wrestler who can be seen competing on Netflix’s reality competition show “Physical: 100” has generated online buzz for his striking resemblance to popular Mandopop singer Jay Chou.
Nam Kyung-jin, who has made a name for himself in South Korea as a freestyle wrestler, became a TikTok sensation after videos were shared of him participating in the show.
Prior to joining the show, the 34-year-old athlete won multiple medals for the country, including bronze awards at the 2014 and 2018 Asian Games, as well as the 2020 Asian Championships.
As one of the 100 contestants of the “Squid Game“-inspired Netflix series, Nam uses his imposing physique to engage in brawls, carry heavy items and take on other grueling tasks.
Contestants who fail to complete the tasks are eliminated, with the last man or woman standing declared the winner and awarded 300 million won (approximately $238,000).
In the show’s third episode, Nam shared that he’s been wrestling for 20 years and has been on the national team for 12 years.
According to Nam, his “muscles are for real-life action,” and he thinks “he can beat anybody.”
On TikTok, commenters poked fun at the similarities and the “slight” differences between the contestant and the Taiwanese singer.
One viral clip by user @Jonho7y, which has racked up over 315,000 views, was captioned “Wah Jay Chou joined Physical: 100,” with “More like Jay Chunky” written in the description.

“I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who pointed this out immediately,” a commenter wrote. “I couldn’t watch his scenes seriously.”
“I was telling my sis this person looks familiar then ‘Jay Chou’ comes to my mind!” another chimed in. “So I’m not the only one thinking this way. LOL!”
“Since when [did] Jay Chou become so buffed,” a user said in jest.
