Whether you are a fan of documentary films, short films, indie films, are fascinated by the art of filmmaking or are looking for something to inspire and move your soul, the 8th annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival should be on your radar.
The film festival kicks off Wednesday, March 30 and will run through Sunday, April 2 with 19 award-winning documentaries. Filmmakers from around the world will gather in Fort Collins to share their stories, insights and connect with audience members.
“For the first time in several years, ACT will host more than a dozen filmmakers and film participants at the festival,” Festival Producer Greg Dickinson said. “Offering our audiences the chance to meet the people behind the films is a powerful way to add impact and insight to the stories the films tell. Welcoming these guests will enrich the festival, festival goers experience and Fort Collins.”
Writer, producer, director and activist Curtis Chin will be one of the filmmakers attending the festival. Chin will be premiering his short film, “Dear Corky” at the event.
“’Dear Corky’ is a 17-minute short that came out of a different project,” Chin explained. “We were making a documentary called ‘Our Chinatown’ and Corky happened to be one of the people we were interviewing.”
After COVID shut down the original film’s production, Chin decided to take the footage he had and put together the short instead. The film is Chin’s third production and second short film project.
