Now in her seventh year at LMU, Julia Lee, Ph.D., associate professor of English, has focused her teaching on Black and Asian American literature. A critically-acclaimed author, Lee has written a memoir and multiple novels incorporating her experience as an Asian American woman into the American narrative.
Because of her expertise, Lee has been chosen to interview Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Ph.D., a scholar, filmmaker and Lee’s past mentor, to explore topics regarding African American studies programs, affirmative action and more.
